Hotel Sixtytwo Barcelona A Hotel Review

Sixtytwo Hotel, Barcelona is located directly on Barcelona’s pride and joy – Passeig de Gràcia. This wide street runs from the very centre of the city to the more bohemian area of Gràcia. It is lined with designer shops, chic bars and old buildings. It is a Mecca for shopping and architecture fans alike.

Sixtytwo Hotel is an understated design hotel located half way up the street. A doorman allows entrance through a small black door into a long corridor style lobby area. Dark wood floors lead to the front desk. The desk’s front is covered with a sheet of backlit orange plastic, casting a warm light into the room. Two large lights form centre pieces in the room. They have the feel of a modern chandelier – lots of exposed white light bulbs at the end of twisting and winding wires.

The hotel is likely to appeal to those who have an interest in modern and cosmopolitan Barcelona, due to both its location and its interior.

Gràcia is an area worth visiting if you wish to find some gems off the beaten tourist track. Its narrow streets and numerous plazas are full of charming bars and bodegas. It is also the home of Flash Flash – an interesting restaurant with a sixties style that specializes in tortillas (Spanish omelettes) of all varieties.

Passeig de Gràcia itself is also one of Barcelona’s most famous streets. It is home to two Gaudí buildings – Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. La Pedrera is located on the same side of the street as the hotel. It was created as a sort of homage to the sea, with fluid lines and sealife features, such as a staircase taking the form of the inside of a seashell.

It is always popular amongst well-heeled locals and tourists, who come to enjoy the imaginative tapas on offer. It offers very classic Spanish tapas, such as Chiperones and Pimientos de Padrón.
